Orange, extra vitamins for the hair

- 10/14/2019

We get up, have a couple of oranges and drink a good natural juice to start the day. But did you know that oranges also provide our hair with vitamins? Today we talk about this fruit and how we incorporate it into our formulas.

The orange is a very valuable fruit, but it has not always been here. The bitter orange comes from southern Asia, and was spread to the Mediterranean, Syria and Palestine by the Arabs. It was the caliphs of Cordoba during the 9th and 10th centuries who popularised its use as an ornamental plant, planting it in streets, gardens, courtyards and mosques. At first, orange trees were used as a decorative element due to their thick foliage and bright colours, and for cosmetic and even medicinal uses. Later it was widely used as an ingredient in jams and marmalades, and in the production of liqueurs. Today it is exported all over the world.

The sweet orange was brought from China in the 15th century by Portuguese traders and soon adapted to the lands of Levante, near ports and trade routes, where it was used to prevent scurvy.

At Henna Morena we incorporate them into some of our hair formulations, both their juice and their peel, for their great benefits, especially for dry, dandruff, curly or malnourished hair.

What does it do for the hair?

- Restores shine. It is an antioxidant and eliminates grease and impurities from the hair: shine returns in a surprising way

- Acts as a conditioner. A juice is extracted from the peel of the orange that enhances the hair's shine and softness.

- Naturally prevents dandruff. When the skin dries out, the scalp feels it too: our orange formulas eliminate dandruff.

- Removes dirt and toxins. Orange has antiseptic properties, making it an ally in preventing bacterial diseases, itchiness and irritability. And healthier hair grows better.
