5 solutions to have your hair looking great in summer
We answer your questions about how to take care of your hair at this time of year.
The good weather brings us to life, we love to feel the sun on our skin and we adore swimming in the sea. But oh, oh! What we don't like is how complicated hair care becomes in summer. The washes multiply, the hair dries out and the sweat makes the hair dirty sooner, not to mention the frizz? Fortunately, at Henna Morena we have answers and solutions to your hair problems at this time of year. Here's a compilation of the most common ones!
THE COLOUR DOESN'T LAST AT ALL
"During the summer I dye my hair as usual but I feel that the colour doesn't last as long".
Dehydration and lack of nutrients in our hair, which is common in summer, is one of the causes of colour loss, i.e.: the dye doesn't last as long. So, if there is one thing we must be clear about, it is that hydrated and nourished hair will always keep its colour better. How do we nourish it? With the summer essential: the Nigh Regenerating Serum, a concentrate of regenerating oils with Argan, Ylang Ylang, Hemp and Moringa, among others. It is: highly antioxidant, anti-ageing and deeply repairing. Regenerate your hair while you sleep and wake up with moisturised, frizz-free, silky hair with spectacular colour.
WASHING TOO OFTEN
"I have to wash my hair more often because of the heat and the sweat, the sun and the beach... it feels stressed!"
In summer our washing routines get messed up, it's unavoidable with the sweat and plans for the beach or the pool. While we can't stop washing it, because sweat is toxins, the sea equals salt and the pool is chlorine (i.e. agents that attack the hair), we can play with shampoo and moisturising products when washing is almost daily. In these cases, if your hair is generally healthy, and you are not doing the first step of the Henna Morena Method, you do not need to clean your hair in depth as it does not become really dirty. For this, choose one of our liquid shampoos, which are more gentle and respectful of the hair's pH. If you wash your hair two days in a row because sweat has dirtied your scalp, you can shampoo only the roots and apply Orange & Shea conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends to keep them moisturised.
PROTECTION ON THE BEACH
"I don't know how to protect it from burning, or how to wash it every time I dive into the sea".
The best advice we can give is to cover it with a hat, a scarf, a cap... But we have more tips! If you're not going to get your hair wet while you're at the beach and you want to take advantage of this time to moisturise your hair in depth, take note. At home, wash your hair and apply the Henna and Shea mask or the Sage and Orange mask. Without removing it, gather and cover your hair and enjoy the beach. When you come back, rinse and that's it! Moisturised hair. You can repeat this trick once a week. If you're one of those who never give up a dip in the beach or pool, hair included, this step is a must: after every swim, rinse your hair with fresh water. If you are not going to bathe anymore, it is time to apply the Hydrating serum with Silicon and Jojoba, which acts as a protector against the sun, saltpetre, chlorine... If your hair is curly, a good option is Aloe Vera Gel with Lavender.
FRIZZ
"Styling my hair in summer is my biggest problem. I end up with my hair in a bun because it's always frizzy".
Our hair is stressed and we are stressed that we can't tame it, which makes our hair frizz even more in response. There is a way out of this vicious circle: weekly oil treatment. The Grape Seed and Petit Grain oil is the best option in summer because of its antioxidant power. It will balance the scalp and keep the hair fibre sealed, which will gradually reduce frizz. For styling, we have two products that work for all hair types: Aloe Vera Gel with Lavender and the Hydrating serum with Silicon and Jojoba. Read on to the end to find out how to apply them.
DRY HAIR
"I notice dryness at the ends, I have the feeling that my hair looks like a mess".
Hair is like a sponge, for good and for bad. If we give it oils, plants, good soaps... it absorbs its nutrients and the hair repairs itself. If we expose it to external aggressions, synthetic products... the spell is broken and it turns from a sponge into a scouring pad. Even if we maintain a good hair routine all year round, exposure to external aggressions in summer is almost inevitable and we have to intensify our hair care habits. For hair that is already dry, your allies are products such as the Almond with Lavender Oil, Sage with Lavender shampoo, masks or Orange & Shea conditioner and extra reinforcement with the Hydrating serum with Silicon and Jojoba at the ends. If the hair is not only dry but also coarse, as can be the case with grey hair, Shea butter combined with hair oil in the form of a mask once a week will work wonders. Here's how to do it.
OILY AND ITCHY SCALP
"With the heat, humidity and sweat, my scalp is very itchy".
This is the opposite extreme of the previous problem. Oily-prone hair has a hard time in summer because the sweat adds further complications to an unbalanced scalp. The itching causes us to touch our hair more and that leads to more oil secretion, which means we need to wash our hair sooner. In these cases, it is essential to take care of the scalp. For this, the weekly treatment with the Grape Seed and Petit Grain oil, the Nettle and Thyme shampoo for each wash, the fortnightly treatment with Walnut or Cassia Obovata, prepared with the Grape Seed and Petit Grain oil and the Rosemary and Sage infussion.
