Things you need to know to dye your hair with natural dyes
Firstly, when you dye with plants, you're taking care of your hair. Unlike synthetic dyes, vegetable dyes do not break the hair structure to enter its interior, but rather deposit on the surface of the hair.
Second important concept: plants never lighten or change the initial tone, this can only be achieved through synthetic ingredients that break the cuticle. Therefore, the resulting tone will depend on our natural base color. So, before diving into dyeing with plants, especially if you've been using synthetic products and dyes, we recommend you follow our Henna Morena Method to prepare your hair for coloring.
Chocolate tone: Walnut with Indigo
If your hair is brown or brunette and your goal is to achieve a chocolate brown tone, we recommend our formula of Walnut with Indigo. This powdered vegetable coloring contains Walnut, Indigo, and Henna, with L-arginine, vitamins, and minerals that help improve scalp blood circulation, strengthening hair roots. This formula comes with a Thyme and Nettle hair infusion that has purifying, antioxidant functions, and improves shine. Additionally, it provides minerals such as iron, calcium, and potassium.
Preparation: Mix the vegetable dye with the Thyme and Nettle infusion and add any of our oils until you achieve a hot chocolate texture. You will find all the quantities indicated on the package. Apply the mixture to dry hair, from roots to ends, covering the entire head. Wrap the hair with film and let it sit for 1 hour. Wash your hair with plenty of water and your usual shampoo.
Hazelnut tone: Henna with Cassia
If you want to join the hazelnut tone trend, the formula of Henna with Cassia will be your ally. On brown hair, the application of this formula results in this highly demanded tone, covering gray hairs with soft coppery highlights, providing nutrition, shine, and volume. The infusion included with this dye is Rosemary and Sage, which balances excess oil, strengthens, and restores shine to the hair. Both Rosemary and Sage are wild plants with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and stimulating properties.
Preparation: Mix the vegetable dye with the Rosemary and Sage infusion and add any of our oils until you achieve a hot chocolate texture. You will find all the quantities indicated on the package. Apply the mixture to dry hair, from roots to ends, covering the entire head. Wrap the hair with film and let it sit for 1 hour. Wash your hair with plenty of water and your usual shampoo.
Copper tone: Henna
Without a doubt, if you want to opt for the copper tone, we recommend any of our 4 Hennas. The difference between them lies in the infusion that accompanies them, providing different extra benefits for the hair. We refer to these 4 formulas: Henna with Thyme and Nettle Infusion (ideal for fragile, weak hair or prone to falling out), Henna with Rosemary and Sage Infusion (perfect for oily hair, as it cleanses and purifies the scalp), Henna with Lavender and Orange Blossom Infusion (for fine, voluminous hair) and Henna with Black Tea, Cinnamon, and Hibiscus Infusion (if you want an intense copper tone).
The Lawsonia Inermis plant (Henna) always dyes a copper tone and achieves very natural copper highlights in brown, copper, and brunette hair. Additionally, it provides multiple benefits, such as: strengthens hair, prevents hair loss, provides nutrients, is antibacterial, adds volume, and eliminates dandruff.
Preparation: Mix the Henna with the infusion included in the box, according to the formula you have chosen, and add any of our oils until you achieve a hot chocolate texture. You will find all the quantities indicated on the package. Apply the mixture to dry hair, from roots to ends, covering the entire head. Wrap the hair with film and let it sit for 1 hour. Wash your hair with plenty of water and your usual shampoo.
