Did you know that your orders help us plant trees?

- 03/14/2021

Discover our tree replanting project thanks to the interview with Jordi Juanós, director of Plant For The Planet foundation.

For the past four years, we’ve allocated part of our sales profits to the global reforestation project led by Plant for the Planet. Why do we do it? Because it’s our responsibility. Trees are one of the most powerful tools to buy time in the fight against the climate crisis. Did you know they have the ability to capture CO2 from the atmosphere and store it within? Restoring forests is the only way to keep the temperature increase below 1.5ºC. Currently, there are an estimated three trillion trees on Earth, and our planet can accommodate one trillion more!

Donating trees is part of our Green Habits, a series of practices we at Henna Morena follow as part of our ethics and values as a brand. Our creation and production processes are designed to respect the world around us: we support artisanal methods, produce in small batches to ensure the freshness of the plants we use, manufacture and package locally to avoid unnecessary transport, use recyclable and sometimes compostable packaging, never test on animals, promote social sustainability projects, and offer workshops that empower women and give them greater freedom. With every Henna Morena product you purchase, you leave a positive mark. It’s up to us to ensure the future is greener, more sustainable, and more respectful of our environment.

A few days ago, we met with Jordi Juanós in our store in Barcelona. Here’s what he shared about the project, and we’d love to share it with you.

"I am Jordi Juanós, director of the Plant for the Planet Foundation in Spain. Plant for the Planet was founded in 2007 by the initiative of a nine-year-old German boy, Felix Finkbeiner. Currently, we are active in eight countries around the world, and the main objectives of our foundation and movement are twofold, fully complementary. On the one hand, restoring life to forests by rehabilitating ecosystems that have suffered some form of degradation. Through tree planting and forest management, we are working on the recovery of these ecosystems.

On the other hand, we focus on identifying and empowering what we call future climate leaders, in Spain in our case. We support their initiatives and help them grow into empowered future climate leaders. The idea of planting trees and managing forests as a solution or mitigation of the effects of climate change is clear. Trees are and will continue to be the only natural machines capable of converting carbon dioxide into oxygen.

It is no longer just a matter of greening the landscape or conserving forests but also a matter of human health. We breathe oxygen, the oxygen generated by these forests. The Henna Morena World Forest Campaign is a clear example of how one can contribute to the overarching mission of combating the effects of the climate emergency. It will fund the planting of a thousand trees in a project we support in Tanzania, using native trees suited to the area. There is no point in planting species that we know cannot survive in those spaces, and we are very careful about this. Every contribution—big or small, in Spain, Tanzania, or any other country—equally serves the goal of this mission. All trees play their part, no matter where they are."
