Does your hair need a reset? Signs and products to do a hair detox

- 01/13/2025

Did you know that sometimes our hair asks for a break? A hair detox is like giving your hair a ‘reset’ so that it regains its natural shine and vitality. If you notice that it's dull, limp or that the usual products don't work the same way, it might be the perfect time to do it. Today we'll tell you how to spot the signs that your hair needs a detox and why it's an essential treat for your hair care routine.

Factors that indicate your hair needs a reset or detox

There is no single reason why hair needs a reset, rather there are several and they are often interrelated. One of the most common is usually the accumulation of residues left by chemical dyes, treatments such as straightening or keratin and finishing products such as mousses, thermal sprays and fixing gels, above all. These residues, which are almost invisible to us, accumulate on the scalp because most shampoos are not capable of deep cleansing. In addition, environmental pollution and salt spray from the sea in summer can also worsen the situation.

In general, you will notice that your hair needs a detox if you feel your hair is dull, dull, lacklustre, limp with no volume at the roots and/or more brittle. If you look closely at the scalp, you will see clogged pores and even some flaking.

How to do a hair detox at home to reset hair in just one month

When we talk about doing a hair detox, we mean nothing more than deep cleansing the scalp with the right products. What do we gain? Removing dead cells, opening the pores and oxygenating the scalp so that, in general, it regains its vitality. With this, you will notice that your hair will gradually return to its best.

Wash your hair for 1 month with a solid shampoo, the key product for deep-cleansing hair

For one month, you will wash your hair exclusively with one of our shampoo bars. Why? They have an alkaline pH, which means they have a high cleansing power and are able to deeply cleanse the scalp, removing accumulated dirt.

You should also know that they contain sodium coco-sulfate (SCS), naturally present in coconut and responsible for giving the shampoo the ability to deeply cleanse the hair and remove oil and other residues that build up on the hair without damaging the scalp. They also last a long time, because with just two or three strokes on wet hair, you'll create enough lather to wash your entire mane. This is our current range:

- The Grapefruit shampoo bar is ideal for oily hair. It regulates sebum, cleanses and conditions the hair.

- The Cocoa and Shea shampoo bar is the ally of curly, damaged or dyed hair, as it is very emollient and moisturising.

- The Juniper shampoo bar is one of our best sellers. We recommend it for fine hair, to care for sensitive scalp and to combat flaking.

- The Coconut shampoo bar is ideal for very dry and damaged hair, as it repairs the hair and prevents split ends.

- The Green Tea shampoo bar is the most universal of all, it cleanses and protects all hair types from environmental aggressions. We recommend it especially for those who wash their hair every day.

Get a clay hair mask with the Ghassoul treatment

In addition to solid shampoo, there are certain hair types that can benefit from this other treatment to detox and reset: Ghassoul. If your hair is fine, oily and/or dandruff-prone, and you don't colour your hair, read on because it can work really well for you:

By the time you've been doing the above step for two to three weeks, your hair will have managed to get rid of much of the residue, so your pores won't be as clogged and will be able to absorb the nutrients from any treatment. Now it's time to apply Ghassoul. This is a volcanic clay traditionally used in Moroccan hammams. Applied as a mask on the hair, it acts as a hair cleanser, removing impurities and grease, and cleansing in depth. It is ideal for a hair detox as it is rich in minerals such as silicon and magnesium which have a sebum regulating action, restoring the hair's balance. Here we show you how to prepare it.
