Henna at Burkina Faso
Nothing is impossible. A year and a half ago we visited Burkina Faso, on a trip where we met three women's associations working in the fields in really tough conditions.
Africa is often complicated, extreme in some cases, but in this part of the continent, some 300 kilometres in the middle of the desert, the land is really stingy with crops. One could barely manage to pick millet and shea to feed oneself.
At Bousse, however, there live strong, hard-working and highly organised women: with their tenacity and willpower, they used to fetch water daily from the well, which is almost 2 km away. They are incredible women.
Now Henna Morena is going to make their work more effective with its own empowerment project for the women's associations in Bousse. Since the beginning of the year we have been creating the necessary infrastructure to create a henna cultivation there: 2 wells have been drilled, the land has been conditioned, we have created an irrigation system and we have built two training and literacy classrooms (the buildings you see below).
In addition, part of the cultivated hectares will be used to plant vegetables and fruit, now with better conditions so that they can supply more than 200 families.
