Neutral henna or pure henna
Do you know the difference between pure henna and neutral henna? If you still have doubts, you are in the right place. We are specialists in Henna, that's why we are called Henna Morena. We have been studying this plant, which emerged as a beauty and colour treatment on the shores of the Eastern Mediterranean, for more than 20 years.
It is in popular culture that the confusion begins: among women, and for centuries, henna and neutral henna have always been differentiated by their ability to dye. And although they are in fact two completely different plants, women lumped them together because (except for their pigmenting properties) their benefits are identical.
PURE HENNA
It is the powder of a bush called Lawsonia Inermis: This plant has been known since ancient times for its benefits and properties and for being the plant that provides colour, but be careful girls: it does not lighten and its colour (always coppery) will depend on the base of the hair on which we apply it. And no, it does not cover grey hair, but it tones it down, creating vivid coppery highlights.
NEUTRAL HENNA
This is its popular name, but it is actually a different plant, Cassia Obovata. It has the same properties as Henna, but does not give colour. We can also use it to reduce the colour of pure henna and obtain hazelnut colours, to make mixtures with other pigmenting plants or just for the pleasure of enjoying a reconstituting and highly nourishing hair mask. It is "transparent" henna colourless, colourless and strengthening, the boys' favourite because it has a multitude of benefits without dyeing.
And yes, it is suitable for all hair types, although if you have coloured hair that has been heavily damaged by synthetic dyes, we don't recommend using it before restoring your hair with oils and deep moisturising because it is very astringent.
What do they bring to us?
Both Henna and Cassia Obovata provide our hair with a large amount of vitamins and minerals. They give it strength, body and shine, as well as slowing down hair loss in times of hormonal or seasonal changes, and healing the hair and scalp. It is becoming more and more common to see children in our showrooms having the Cassia Obovata treatment, because it is a very pleasant treatment, as well as a bonus of vitamins! It is ideal for pregnant women (before and after pregnancy).
In fact, more and more people are asking us for a Cassia obovata treatment as an anti-ageing and detox treatment, because it renews the hair cuticle and restores its youth and thickness.
Always remember that in the preparation process of both plants you must add a spoonful of botanical oil of almond, yoyoba, petit grain or avocado, first pressed, so that the hair is moisturised. A true beauty ritual.
