How to get a dark brown tone if you have a lot of gray hair

- 10/07/2020

Are you a brunette with gray hair and want to dye your hair in a tone similar to yours and without damaging your hair? You are in the right place because at Henna Morena we have a formula to achieve a totally natural dark brown tone.

Indigo with Henna is the vegetable dye for those who want to continue being brunettes, because having gray hair does not mean having to dye yourself blonde or red.

If you are dark brown and have few gray hairs, we have a special formula for you: Indigo with Henna, the perfect mix of plants for dark brown hair that does not want a reddish tone for their hair. Applying alone you will already see an incredible result.

It is an option that refreshes your color, makes it more vivid and intense. It's like rejuvenating your hair.

Are you more than 50% gray?

If you have more than 50% gray hair or localized gray hair, you have to know that your hair will need 2 steps to be great. If you already know how Henna works, you will have seen that gray hair is dyed as if it were highlights. In the case of Indigo with Henna, being a pigment that needs a dark base to pigment correctly, if you have a lot of gray hair (more than 50%), gray hair located at a point or at the root, you will need double coloration. A first phase to homogenize the tone and a second phase to achieve the dark brown color.

Why? Because dyes made with plants do not penetrate the hair structure or oxidize the hair to dye (as a synthetic dye does, which can darken and homogenize the tones because they enter the hair cuticle, oxidize it and manage to even out the tones). Natural dyes dye in layers, respecting the structure of the hair, as if it were a varnish with a little color. The color that is at the base of the hair will always influence the final result.

When having a dark brown tone with more than 50% gray hair, for the color to be homogeneous, it is necessary to do these 2 steps or double coloring.

What is it?

Phase 1: First we apply a Henna (Henna with infusion of Thyme and Nettle, Henna with Lavender and Orange Blossom or Henna with Rosemary and Sage infusion). Here's a tutorial so you can see how it is prepared.

When you remove the poultice you will see that the hair will have copper reflections don't panic, they won't stay like this forever, it's just a phase to be able to put the next pigmenting powder and that the color looks good.

Phase 2: When the hair is dry -you can dry it with a dryer-, we will apply the Indigo with Henna previously mixed with the infusion and the oil. We leave the poultice on the hair for 60 minutes. The result is a very natural dark brown tone.

In subsequent applications, perhaps you will not need the first phase of the double coloring and only applying Indigo with Henna will be enough. It all depends on your amount of gray hair and how rebellious they are.

How to keep your color alive and tanned for longer

Ideally, you should incorporate the Walnut and Sage conditioner, especially created for brunettes, into your routine. It prevents oxidation and premature aging of the hair, moisturizing and enhancing the color of dark and very dark brown hair. Provides intense shine and moisturized hair that is easy to comb and silky to the touch. Among its main active ingredients is Walnut, which enhances shine by providing a light dark pigment ideal for shading dark hair, moisturizing dry and damaged hair, restoring its softness and natural shine.
