Male Hair: Get rid of dandruff in two simple steps

- 12/04/2023

Do you know the causes behind your dandruff? Unsure about which products to use to prevent it? Getting rid of dandruff is as simple as understanding what causes it and treating it at the root. Let's get started!

50% of the population will experience dandruff at some point in their lives. As you can see, you're not alone. Dandruff is the excessive shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp. It can be caused by various factors, such as dry scalp, seborrheic dermatitis, stress, excessive use of improper hair care products, or genetic factors.

But let's start by distinguishing the two types of dandruff that exist:

- Dry dandruff. It is characterized by small white flakes and is primarily caused by dryness of the scalp and lack of hydration. It can also be attributed to external factors such as weather or excessive use of inappropriate products.

- Oily dandruff. It presents with larger and more yellowish flakes. This type of dandruff is associated with an increased production of scalp sebum and may be accompanied by inflammation. It is generated by an imbalance in the microbiome, which develops more rapidly in sebum-rich areas. The fungus responsible for this is called Malassezia, a fungus naturally present on the skin and scalp. In some individuals, the presence of this fungus can trigger reactions that contribute to the formation of dandruff.

Some studies suggest that, unlike women, men have larger sebaceous glands, which makes the scalp more exposed and susceptible to dandruff. Is this your case? Don't worry, we now have the solutions..

Haircare routine to combat dandruff

We propose a very simple hair care routine so that with consistency and a few weeks, you can get rid of dandruff.

The most important thing is to take care of the scalp, and washing is something we do almost daily. Therefore, it is necessary to use a gentle shampoo that cleans without damaging the hair and helps control dandruff. We recommend two options; choose the one that best suits you according to your preferences. On one hand, if you prefer the liquid shampoo format, we recommend Nettle and Thyme Shampoo, with Thyme extract, which has anti-dandruff properties.

In case you prefer the solid format, more sustainable, free of plastics, silicones, or parabens, go for the Green Tea shampoo bar, rich in antioxidants, acts as a hair purifier. Another good option is the Juniper shampoo bar, tones and balances the scalp, cleaning and conditioning the hair.
