Golden highlights with henna? Yes!

- 01/12/2013

If your hair is brown and you don't want coppery highlights, this is your recipe for golden highlights.

The colour of the Henna on the hair always depends on the base colour on which you apply the plants, because the vegetable colouring does not modify the hair structure, therefore, it cannot bleach the hair. What Henna does allow us to do is to "modulate" the final colour, always moving in tones close to the base colour.

If you are a light or medium brunette, you want to keep your colour but give it a slightly more intense colour, like hazelnut, and you want the grey hair to have a golden reflection, try this recipe:

INGREDIENTS

1 pack of Henna with Cassia Obovata

1 Calendula, Chamomile and Orange Peel infusion (improves gold tones)

3 tablespoons of Vodka (will help to close the cuticle of the hair, and you'll get more shine)

3 tablespoons of one of our hair oils

PREPARATION

Pour the contents of the packet of Henna with Cassia Obovata into a ceramic, glass or wooden bowl. Prepare the indicated infusion in boiling water, and let it steep for 3 minutes. Add the infusion with the help of a strainer to the mixture and stir until a chocolate-like texture is achieved. Add the tablespoons of vodka and oil and continue stirring. There should be no lumps. Brush dry hair thoroughly and relax in front of the mirror. Apply the mixture starting at the roots and working your way to the ends until the whole hair is covered, using a dye brush or your hands covered with gloves. Leave the colouring to work for 1 hour. After this time, wash your hair gently and you will notice beautiful golden highlights, shinier and silkier hair.
