Save the Posidonia Project: Our Commitment to the Sea Goes Beyond

- 07/14/2026

"True beauty exists without turning its back on nature." This is how Sandra Vivancos, founder and CEO of Henna Morena, describes the philosophy behind every one of our products. A way of understanding hair care where beauty and nature always go hand in hand. This connection with nature is, in fact, the very essence of Henna Morena.

Within that connection, the Mediterranean Sea has always held a very special place. As the granddaughter of fishermen and a passionate surfer, Sandra has grown up with a deep respect for the sea, its strength, and the delicate balance it has maintained for thousands of years. A bond that was destined to become part of the brand.

After years of research, that inspiration has taken shape in our Protective Hair Serum with Red Algae & Marine Keratin, formulated with highly biodegradable ingredients.

Marine plants are exposed every day to some of the harshest conditions on Earth: intense UV radiation, temperature fluctuations, salinity, waves, and constant environmental stress. To survive, they have developed extraordinary natural defence mechanisms.

Inspired by this remarkable resilience, we have created a treatment that helps protect the hair from oxidation and external aggressors while providing hydration, elasticity, and shine. The formula also contains the seaweed known as Mermaid's Hair, a natural source of keratin that helps strengthen the hair fibre from within, leaving hair healthier and more resilient.

If the sea inspires us, we must also protect it

Creating a product inspired by the Mediterranean led us to ask ourselves a simple question: how can we give something back to the sea that inspires us? We do so by developing formulas with highly biodegradable ingredients and by supporting initiatives such as Save the Posidonia Project.

Save the Posidonia Project is an initiative launched by the Consell Insular de Formentera to protect one of the Mediterranean's most valuable ecosystems: the meadows of Posidonia oceanica.

Why Posidonia?

Although it is often mistaken for seaweed, Posidonia is actually an endemic Mediterranean seagrass and one of the most important species for maintaining the ecological balance of the sea.

Its meadows produce oxygen, capture CO₂, improve water quality, protect beaches from erosion, and provide a habitat for hundreds of marine species. Preserving them means protecting the biodiversity and long-term health of the Mediterranean for present and future generations.

Our commitment to SAVE THE POSIDONIA PROJECT

At Henna Morena, we believe that caring for hair also means caring for the environment that inspires our ingredients and our philosophy. That is why we support Save the Posidonia Project by sponsoring square metres of Posidonia seagrass meadows, directly contributing to their conservation while helping raise awareness of the importance of protecting this unique natural heritage.
