Walnut, the natural ally for brunettes

- 03/30/2023

If your hair is between brown and dark shades, you should already have Walnut on your radar as one of the key natural ingredients to care for your hair. On its own or in combination with other plants, it will help strengthen your hair and care for and enhance your natural hair colour. Want to know more?

Of all the plants, fruits and trees in our natural formulas, Walnut is one of the great unknowns. However, it has a lot to offer, especially for brown and brunette hair. Let's make you fall in love again with the beautiful Mediterranean brown hair that represents us so much.

Properties and benefits of walnut

Walnut helps prevent hair loss due to its high content of L-arginine, an amino acid that promotes blood circulation to the scalp and, consequently, helps strengthen the roots. In addition, because it strengthens the hair follicles, it also improves the quality of the hair, and you will notice this in its softness and shine.

Walnut or Juglans is a tree rich in natural naphthoquinones (juglone), a type of tannin found in its leaves. It is also rich in polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that react with hair protein. These two natural components, present in the leaves, have a very light pigmenting capacity on dark tones. That is why Walnut is present in one of our vegetable colouring formulas combined with other plants with greater pigmenting capacity: Indigo and Henna. The resulting formula is this one, which gives a chocolate tone to dark hair.

Además, como curiosidad, te contamos que tradicionalmente el Nogal se ha utilizado de forma tópica para calmar inflamaciones cutáneas leves y para reducir la sudoración excesiva de pies y manos.

Our haircare products with walnut

Walnut treatment

It is not a colouring formula, but a formula that enhances your natural brunette tone. If you want to enhance your natural colour and don't need to cover grey hair, we recommend this option which is Walnut powder. As we have mentioned, Walnut has less pigmenting capacity, so it will help you to achieve a very natural result, more shine and will give you more strength. Although it doesn't cover grey hair, its prolonged use darkens the hair, so if you're getting your first grey hair, it's a very good option. You can also use this product to make your own mixtures: you can try combining Henna and Walnut (to reduce the copperiness) or Henna, Cassia Obovata and Walnut (to get a more brownish tone), for example. The plants, combined together, will give you different shades.

Walnut with Sage conditioner

This conditioner, specially formulated for brunettes, protects and boosts brunette hair color. Prevents oxidation and premature aging while hydrating and enhancing the color of dark and very dark brown hair. Provides intense shine, deeply hydrated hair, easy manageability, and a silky touch. These are its two key ingredients:

- Walnut Extract: Enhances shine and delivers a subtle dark pigment ideal for toning brunette hair. Hydrates dry and damaged hair, restoring its natural softness and shine.

- Sage Extract: Rich in antioxidants, stimulates blood circulation, strengthening hair from the roots. Adds remarkable shine and promotes a fuller look.
