We Love Curly Hair. Our natural routine for curly hair.
In Henna Morena we love curls. They are a reflection of naturalness, freedom and character. There are more and more women who decide to take care of their curly hair and give them the nourishment they need.
Women who stop using irons and synthetic straightening and reconcile with the curly movement, a trend that respects curly hair and teaches how to take care of it to get the best out of it. Because your hair empowers you, defines you and talks about you. And we love being part of that change in perception towards oneself.
We explain our hair routine for curly hair, always in a 100% natural way. Moisturizing, defining curls, getting flexible curly hair, enhancing shine, avoiding dryness, specific washes without using conventional shampoos, color for wavy hair... this and more, in this article, so that you have amazing curls:
Hydration is synonymous with Definition
To restore the health of your curls, it is essential that you keep them well hydrated because hydration is what gives flexibility and defines the undulation of curly hair. That is why we recommend that once every 15 days you make a mask of Shea butter + Grape Seed Oil and Petit Grain. To make the mixture you will have to undo the Shea butter in a seaibath and mix it with the oil in a ceramic, glass or wooden bowl. Watch the tutorial here. Apply the mixture to dry hair (from the mid-lengths to the ends) and leave it on for a minimum of 2 hours (better if you leave it overnight). Then wash the hair with a natural shampoo that respects the natural ph of the hair, such as Honey and Orange shampoo, and rinse with abundant water.
Washing: less is more
Curly hair, having a tendency to be dry, does not do well with daily washing. In order not to dry out the hair or eliminate the natural oils that the hair produces, we recommend our Honey and Orange shampoo, which does not contain sulfates or silicones. If you follow the Henna Morena Method and you are in Step 1, or you just feel that your hair needs a deep wash, choose the Cocoa and Shea shampoo bar, emollient and moisturizing, which repairs and conditions hair providing all the benefits of cocoa, coconut and shea
On the other hand, you can combine the solid shampoo wash with the Shikakai. It is the powder of a plant called Acacia Concinna. It has repairing, soothing and regenerating properties, in addition to providing vitamins A, C, K and D. It is prepared with a couple of tablespoons of Shikakai powder in a small glass of warm water. It is mixed vigorously with a spoon or, if you put it in a container with a lid, beating as if it were a blender. What is the advantage? It does not contain sulfates that clean excessively by removing the natural oils from the hair.
Another recommendation regarding washing curly hair:
If you want to exfoliate your scalp to remove all excess toxins and dirt without going through frequent washing, we recommend that you do the following Exfoliating recipe once every 2 weeks: mix 2 tablespoons of Shikakai + 1 tablespoon of Ghassoul Volcanic Clay , and add a little hot water or a plant infusion, until a cup of chocolate texture is achieved. Apply to damp hair and leave to act for 10 minutes. Then, rinse with water abundant.
Leave-in, a trend we love
Have you heard of the leave-in trend? It means something like... I want it in my hair forever! That is, leaving the product on the hair without rinsing.
If you want maximum definition to your curls, you have different options.
One, apply the Orange and Shea Conditioner with wet hair and do not rinse. When the hair is dry, you will see that it will be very defined and heavier.
Another one, choose the favorite product for curly hair in Henna Morena: the Aloe Gel with Lavender. It shapes the curls wet and dry, defining them while moisturizing them and preventing frizz. Keeps the hair fiber elastic and flexible, thus preventing hair breakage and split ends.
Curly hair loves Henna
Did you knowas that henna has a very similar composition to the keratin in hair? That is why when applying Henna, it covers the hair structure and gives strength, shine and volume to the hair. hair. Henna can be applied as many times as you want, it does not damage the hair, on the contrary, it provides multiple minerals, vitamins and nutrients. So, if you follow the curly method, you have to know that Henna is a suitable product for the curly method.
If you don't want to dye but want to give your hair extra nutrition, use Cassia Obovata. Cassia is a plant that has the same properties than Henna but without giving color.
A tip to make your hair more hydrated both when preparing Henna and Cassia Obovata: add Grape Seed Oil and Petit Grain to the mixture (3 or 4 tablespoons for medium length hair and 5 or 6 tablespoons for long hair). This will counteract the astringent effect and leave you with wavy, flexible and shiny hair.
Brushing, yes, but how?
Lastly, brushing, yes or no? Yes, but always with wet hair, and if possible, with a mask or conditioner on the hair. On dry curl, the only thing you will achieve is to break the fiber and weaken it even more.
Don't forget that when you use combs or brushes, they must be made of natural materials. Our recommendation is that you use combs made with natural unvarnished wood, treated with linseed oil extract and protected with beeswax to preserve its massage properties, blood reactivation and absorption of fat and impurities.
