Why order in your hair care routine matters: Henna Morena Method

- 09/18/2024

If you follow an orderly skincare routine (cleansing, moisturising, treatment according to age...) why not do the same for your hair? We often think that hair care is simply a matter of applying products here and there, without paying much attention to the order in which we use them. But in reality, the secret to good hair is in the products, the order and the consistency of the routine.

It's funny how, for many of us, facial care has become an almost sacred routine. We have assumed that cleansing, moisturising and protecting the skin, following a series of steps, is essential to keep it healthy and radiant. When it comes to hair, however, we tend to skip this step-by-step approach, applying products haphazardly without thinking about the order or its specific needs. But hair, like skin, requires a conscious, well-structured routine. When we give our hair the attention it deserves, following the right steps, the results are just as amazing: a healthier, stronger and shinier mane.

Thus was born The Henna Morena Method, a structured 5-step guide to not only restore the health and shine of your hair, but also teach you how to take care of it yourself at home and fall in love with it all over again.

Why does following an orderly hair routine matter so much?

Because each step prepares the next. If we try to moisturise without deep cleansing, the moisturisation will not be as effective. If we apply a treatment without first sealing the cuticle, we will lose much of its benefits. If we colour the hair with Natural Dyies without having moisturised and repaired, the pigment will not adhere well and the result will not be as expected. And so on and so forth. It's like a choreography where each one flows into the next.

The Henna Morena Method: our step-by-step guide to hair care

Our method is organised in 5 phases or steps that lead you to recover your hair and help you to incorporate good care and maintenance habits for life. Each step has one or more products associated with it, which you should choose depending on your hair type. It's not a quick journey and takes some patience, but the results are spectacular in just a couple of months. Here are the steps, click on each one to find out more:

STEP 1: RESET

Just as a peeling or deep cleansing of the face is recommended from time to time, the first step here is to do a ‘detox’ or deep cleansing of the scalp. What we do is to wash away harmful substances and accumulated residues, and leave the cuticle open and receptive for the next step.

STEP 2: INTENSIVE MOISTURISING

After the initial reset it is essential to use moisturising products that also seal the cuticle and retain moisture. We incorporate them in the wash, with conditioner and mask, and on dry hair, with our Intensive Moisturising Repair Hair Oils.

STEP 3: TREATMENT

Once hair is clean and moisturised, it's time to feed it well: nourishment. Think of this step as the moment to apply a treatment cosmetic (retinol, vitamin C...). This is where our powdered plant and mineral treatments come into play (powder or liquid), to be chosen according to need.

STEP 4: COLOURING WITH PLANTS (optional)

After detoxing, moisturising and treatment, the hair is ready to be coloured with Natural Dyes (if desired). Our range of tints is composed of 10 plant-based formulas that provide different pigments, from blonde to brunette.

STEP 5: FINIS

The fifth and final step is all about finishing your hairstyle, like adding that extra cosmetic to your routine that makes you shine even more. Our finishing products are little gems, concentrates that not only define the hair, but are also rich in nutrients, moisturise, make styling easier and provide the hair with defences.

Now you know, the next time you wonder if order in your hair routine matters, remember that it does, and it matters a lot. And if you still don't know where to start, The Henna Morena Method is here to guide you step by step towards a healthier, more natural and bouncy mane.
