Henna Morena Method for Oily hair

If your hair produces an excess of oil, it's time to restore balance. Throughout the 5 steps of our Method, you'll learn how to care for it with the most suitable products for your hair type.

Oily hair is characterized by an overproduction of sebum in the scalp. This excess oil gives the hair an overly shiny appearance and a slippery texture to the touch, making it necessary to wash frequently, often daily, as it becomes greasy quickly.

This type of hair tends to look heavier and lacks volume due to sebum buildup. It is also prone to drandruff and scalp issues such as itching, rashes and acne

The main goal is to balance the scalp and regulate sebum production to achieve healthier-looking hair. You'll need to focus heavily on Step 1 of the Method for an initial detox, as well as  Steps 3 and 4, which involve plant-based treatments, including dyes, to help balance the excess oil

These are the products selected for oily hair to follow the Henna Morena Method.

Start over and prepare the hair.

WEEKS 1, 2, 3, AND 4 (ALONGSIDE STEP 2)

The first step of the Henna Morena Method is a deep cleansing with high-quality sulfate shampoos that remove harmful substances from the hair and have an alkaline pH to open the cuticle and make it receptive to subsequent plant-based treatments.

Grapefruit Shampoo Bar

For at least 1 month, you should wash your hair with this shampoo. After each wash, you will need to apply a conditioner or mask, as indicated in Step 2.

After the initial months, you can switch to the liquid shampoo for frequent use and reserve the Solid Shampoo for occasional use. We recommend keeping both formats at home.

After the initial reset with the solid shampoos, it is crucial to use  hydration products after washing and intensive treatments on dry hair. You should begin Step 2 simultaneously with Step 1.

The Henna Morena Method now reaches a crucial and non-negotiable point: our hair needs to reinforce basic hydration after washing. On one hand, it's essential to use our post-wash conditioner, made with hydrating and repairing ingredients, which will leave the hair silky and easy to style.

The Orange and Shea Conditioner and the liquid Sage and Lavender Shampoo.

Wash the hair with the liquid Sage and Lavender Shampoo and finish each wash with the conditioner. Try not to apply the conditioner to the saclp; only use it from mid-lenght to ends and rinse thoroughly afterwards.

STARTING FROM WEEK 4

Once the hair is clean and hydrated, it's time to nourish it: nutrition. Plant and mineral treatments (powdered or liquid) require the hair cuticle to be repaired in order to counteract their astringent effects and fully benefit from their properties.

If your hair is damaged, has split ends, or is colored (for example), and you have not completed the previous steps of (1) resetting and (2) hydrating for at least 1 month, do not proceed with the Henna Morena Method because the hair is not prepared to absorb the nutrients from the plants.

To remove the plant poultices, use the liquid shampoo, which will help to remove product residues from your hair while sealing the cuticle without leaving any residues.

One or more powdered treatments, depending on your hair's needs.

Once you have completed the durations for Steps 1 and 2, you can start with the plant-based treatments.

To remove the powdered treatments, we recommend using the liquid shampoo, which effectively combats excess oil, help seal the cuticle without leaving residues and provides protective ingredients for the hair.

→ STARTING FROM WEEK 5

Your hair is now ready to use one of our plant-based coloring products (if you weren't planning to change your hair color, you can proceed to Step 5) However, you should know that our plant-based coloring products are not just simple dyes. they are 100% plant formulas designed to both pigment and nourish the hair.

How does plant-based pigmentation work?

Traditional dyes work by creating a chemical reaction that breaks down the hair cuticle fibers to reach the cortex and change the color through oxidation. In contrast, plant-based coloring works through deposition. What does this mean? The pigments adhere os deposit onto cuticle, the outer layer of the hair, while preserving the hair fibers. Pigmentation will occur over your natural hair color. Since there is no oxidation, it is not possible to lighten the color.

The more you use synthetic color, the more you weaken and damage your hair. However, with plant-based color, the more often you apply plant-based color, the more gray coverage, shine and density you achieve. Additionally, by repairing the cuticle, you counteract damage caused by the sun, pollution, bleaching or peroxide. Our range of plant-based coloring consists of 10 plant formulas that provide different pigments and the result will depend on the natural color to which you apply them.

To wash your hair after applying plant-based dyes, we recommend using the sulfate-free Honey and orange Liquid Shampoo, which will help remove plant residues from your hair while sealing the cuticle without leaving any residue.

Choose the formula you want to use to color your hair. You can refer to our coloring guide here.

Keep in mind thatif you have dark hair and 50% or more gary hair, you will need to perform a double coloring. This is explained in the coloring guide.

Remember that you will need to add hair oil.

Once you have completed Steps 1, 2 and 3, you can begin with plant-based coloring.

You can repeat the coloring application as often as needed: it will not harm your hair. Typically, it is done once a month, although you can also apply it every 15 day to touch up roots if necessary.
